I've tried Blogger, LiveJournal, Tumblr, WordPress and even My.Opera.com blogs. Each has their own benefits and useful features. However, spreading my posts across so many resources becomes just too difficult to manage. Besides which, I don't really have all that much I want to say, most of the time. So, I've simplified my blogging.
I moved Blog.Schvenn.net and LiveJournal.Schvenn.net over to Schvenn.Wordpress.com. That one blog will contain the majority of my posts.
However, I'm still keeping My.Opera.com blog to post humorous content and my Tumblr.Schvenn.net to post my personal photos and videos. That leaves me now with just three of the main blogging services, instead of five.
As an aside, I post more detailed content, such as troubleshooting guides, on my main site, the Schvenn.net wiki. That service of course, has more focused content and a much more focused purpose.
It was a difficult choice to make, choosing which services I wanted to keep, because LiveJournal has some really nice features and I like that I can point both LiveJournal and Blogger to sub-domains of my site, which I can't do with WordPress. However, I really don't like the Blogger interface or presentation as much. LiveJournal on the other hand, has a very nice interface, but I prefer the WordPress template and many of it's features. I also prefer to have my services less centralized, which is why I don't just post everything on the main social sites like Facebook or Twitter.
I may return to these other services in the future, but for now, I will only use my Twitter feed to populate my LiveJournal and this blog will likely remain empty. So, check me out at those other sites!
